I was out touring a friends garden this morning and noticed these odd looking whatever they areĀ (Tuber? Nut? Seed?) Being curious, I picked them up and could see that one of them had already started to root. I think I’ll grow them out and see what sprouts up.
Feel free to offer guesses. I’ll figure out some cool prize for anyone who gets it right. Let me know if you have questions.
Oh that’s little Gracie holding them in her dirty little hands.

If it has roots I am wrong, but they look like galls
I think they look like cyclamen corms.
Could be Lisa! My recollection of cyclamen corms are that they are a bit flatter than these are but you may be right. That would be great as far as I’m concerned, I love cyclamen. I checked on these yesterday and they have really shot down roots. I gave them a gentle tug and they didn’t budge. No sign of buds yet though.
Your mystery plant looks alot like Air Potato Vine. Dioscorea bulbifera.
It’s a noxious vine. When it sprouts the new foliage if it’s shiny almost glossy veined heart shape leaf you have potato vine. Sorry for the bad news….
